Abstract: The creation of knowledge from information can be promoted by proper representations of information which make the inherent logical structure of the information transparent. Since concepts are the basic units of human thought and hence the basic structures of logic, the logical structure of information is based on concepts and concept systems. Methods from the theory of formal concept analysis and frequent set mining are applied for automated extraction of information from students ’ responses to preliminary tests about their lack of knowledge or misconception of fundamental terms and skills. Personalized recommendations are suggested to each student once possible difficulties in learning a new subject are detected. Key–Words: Decision support services, uncertainty management 1
