Integrated design of a boost converter

This paper examines the integrated design of a boost power converter. An integrated design procedure is shown to produce a better power converter than could be obtained by designing and optimizing its individual components and then assembling them together. The process of integrated design is accelerated through the use of an automated design procedure that employs iterative Monte-Carlo synthesis, rapid analysis and scalar cost function evaluation techniques. Three accelerators which speed up the Monte-Carlo synthesis and one criterion to determine the convergence of the design procedure are introduced. Results show that the use of these techniques significantly improves the performance of the integrated design procedure.>
