GF(2/sup p/) CA based vector quantization for fast encoding of still images

This paper sets a new direction for vector quantization (I/Q) employed for image compression. The technology of GF(2/sup p/) CA has been employed for the VQ encoder in order to reduce the encoding time by more than one order of magnitude.
