Metallic glasses as acoustic transducers
D.W. Rees, Michael R. J. Gibbs, Nicholas G. Pace · IEEE Transactions on Magnetics · 1992
Taking a toroidal scroll of metallic glass ribbon the authors have constructed a free-flooding hydrophone. The properties have been investigated as a function of winding tension and DC bias field. Although there are some unexplained results in going from air to immersion in water, the response in water is satisfactory. The best results gave a magnetomechanical coupling coefficient of 0.68 with a quality factor of 4.5.>
