Performance of Portable Radio Telephone Using Spread Spectrum

A 2 GHz band portable radio telephone has been fabricated using the spread-spectrum technique. We describe the fundamental performance, bit error rates with and without interference, measured using the experimental telephone. The telephone system's user density is estimated by computer simulation under relatively realistic conditions.
