The inadaptability of the existing network management protocol for the space network environment is analyzed in the paper. A new Spaces Network Management Protocol SP-SNMP is proposed and in which SER, the polling based on MIB and table operation protocol message used are detailed introduced, and conversion gateway is designed for different protocols. At last the performance of the protocol is tested in the simulation platform. Test results show that SP-SNMP with the short PDU length and high management operation efficiency is suitable for the high-delay and the limited bandwidth space networks.
