A Frequency Domain Approach to the Optimization of Scalar Quantizers

This article presents a procedure for optimizing the scalar quantizer, based on the power spectrum density of the quantization noise. The input signal is assumed stationary in the wide sense, but no restriction is made concerning its probability density function.
