Statistical characteristics of the nonstationary noise of an electrode sensor

Large-amplitude pulses in the intrinsic noise are demonstrated for the electrode sensor during several days after immersing in electrolyte. The non-Gaussian distribution function of the noise and a significant increase in the spectral density of the noise voltage at frequencies of less than 100 Hz are obtained in the presence of the pulses. A noticeable increase in the pulsed noise is caused by the charging of the capacitance of the electrode sensor when a preamplifier is switched on, so that the pulsed electrode noise can be effectively suppressed using the connection of the sensor to the preamplifier via an input transformer.
