The MPFB: a new type of field bus network for data collection and real-time process DCS

Wanxing Li · 2002

The MPFB (multiple PC/processor field bus), a real time data collection and process DCS (distributed control system) field bus network that serves at a Bitbus, is discussed. A review of the history of field buses and computer integrated manufacturing systems is presented. The architecture, protocols, and characteristics of the MPFB are described. It is shown that, unlike the Bitbus, the MPFB provides a good distributed network environment for the real-time process DCSs, the field office automation systems, and the broadband integrated services.>
