Design And Analysis Of A Network Level Channel Abstraction To Support Real-time Communications
Taieb F. Znati, Brian Field · 2005
The support of a predictable level of real-time performance requires some form of explicit resource allocations, and a degree of cooperation among t he network c omponents to enforce the resource allocation policies. In this paper, a network level abstraction, 4channel, to support the requirements of real-time applications is described and a discussion of a simulation experiment that was used to test t he validity of this network abstraction is provided. The experiment aims at demonstrating that the scheme guarantees the applications’ specified requirements. The simulation analysis demonstrates the eficiency of the scheme to handle a wide range of applications in di’erent network topologies.
