Evaluation of superresolution array techniques as applied to coherent sources
A. Manikas, Tharmalingam Ratnarajah, JINSOCK LEE · International Journal of Electronics · 1997
An important array processing problem is to resolve fully correlated (coherent) sources. Resolving coherent sources and resolving closely spaced sources is an active area of research. This research study is concerned with investigating the ability of a number of existing techniques, such as ASPECT (Manikas and Turner 1991), DOSE (Zatman, Strangeways and Warrington 1993), IMP (Clarke 1991) and ML (Wax 1985) as a means of estimating the ‘directions of arrivals’. The techniques are not restricted to linear array geometries and are capable of handling fully correlated signals. In the investigation, simulated data will be used to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the algorithms.
