Two-dimensional Laplace source quantization

This paper presents asymptotic and finite N design and performance analyses for uniform VQ for independent Laplace source with respect to mean-squared error. The procedure for optimizing decision levels, representation levels, and number of points per level with a constraint on the total number of points is given.
