Implementation considerations for gross rate link adaptation

This paper examines the use of gross rate link adaptation, where the gross rate of the channel code is varied with the channel conditions, in a packet based TDMA system with statistical multiplexing of speech calls. The effect of resource modification on capacity and speech quality is investigated.
