Applying and monitoring latency-based metacomputing infrastructures
P. Drum, Günther Rackl · 2002
This paper describes the integration of the LSD metacomputing infrastructure and the MIMO Middleware MOnitor. LSD represents a latency-based approach for distributing jobs implemented as Java threads within a set of given computational resources. The MIMO monitoring system provides a framework and infrastructure for building online tools for distributed, heterogeneous platforms; additionally a tool development methodology describing how to rapidly and efficiency construct online tools is given. The results of our research demonstrate how both systems can benefit from the integration and how synergy effects can be accomplished. Therefore, our work contributes to an increased acceptance of online monitoring tools for metacomputing platforms by demonstrating their advantageous deployment. This represents a step towards a more efficient development of metacomputing platforms and applications.
