Sliding the barriers in wireless sensor networks

Tao Yang, Fan Pan-guo, Dejun Mu · 2011

Barrier coverage that requires much fewer sensors than full coverage, is known to be an appreciate model for detection applications. Early results have shown how to construct barriers by both randomly and planned deployment in belt regions. In randomly deployment condition, there may be more than one barrier in a belt region. We present a solution for sliding barriers among the sensors that are deployed randomly. Furthermore, we compare an improved sleep-wakeup protocol with the tractional protocols to make the barrier stronger and lengthen the lifetime of entire network.
