On the teaching of distributed software development

As the software industry moves towards software development projects involving several sites around the world, universities should incorporate this trend into their software engineering curricula. We describe the experiences from the development of a university course in distributed software development. Some of the problems of distributed development make it inherently difficult to transfer this domain to the university environment. Also, the concept of "distribution " has penetrated not only the contents of the course but many other levels as well.
