The task of building signal processors for real-time applications has always been, one involving a trade-off between factors like processing throughput & hardware flexibility. The designer is thus constrained to optimize his system from one of the above angles. DSP processors that have recently hit the market have offered flexible real-time capabilities to the system designer. Two hardware configurations using the ADSP 2100 chip for real time signal processing is presented.
