Electrical Bridge Circuits—Basic Information

Z. L. Warsza · Handbook of Measuring System Design · 2005

Abstract The principle of the voltage and current balance states of electrical circuits, applied in measurement is discussed. The Wheatstone bridge and a review of its 170‐year‐long history of development of different versions and their applications is presented. Bridge classifications are covered. A description of the bridge as a two‐port device represented by matrix Z parameters and their increments from the balance state is provided. This is a unified, universal, and useful tool for analysis of bridge properties and their two‐port application in various circuits of measurement systems.
