A deductive rules processor for SQL databases

Rajshekhar Sunderraman, Rajaraman Sunderraman · 1998

We present a deductive front-end to conventional relational databases that support ANSI-SQL and embedded-SQL.In our system, the user will be able to define implicit relations and pose queries using deductive rules much like in a deductive database system. Our approach is to translate the deductive rules and the queries into embedded-SQL programs that can be invoked when the queries are executed.By adhering to the ANSI-SQL and embedded-SQL standards, we provide a front-end tool which can very easily be used with an existing relational DBMS.
