Adding Interactivity with JavaScript and AJAX

Gail Rahn Frederick, Rajesh Lal · Apress eBooks · 2009

Using mobile JavaScript and Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) can increase the interactivity of a dynamic Mobile Web site, mitigate its impact on a mobile network, and improve usability on smartphones and other devices with advanced mobile browsers. This chapter introduces client-side scripting using JavaScript and AJAX on supported mobile devices, providing development tips, code samples, and suggestions for avoiding common pitfalls. Of course, scripting functionality should be conditionally included in a Mobile Web page, allowing the page to maintain compatibility with older mobile browsers that do not support these advanced features. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
