Experience With Software Testing Techniques

D.M. Arrington, Nina C. Thomas · 2005

In recent years, computers have been included as important components of critical systems. For this reason, quality assurance has been concerned with the correctness of computer software. Evidence that the computer software meets desired standards of quality is enhanced by providing a documented software test plan and documented test results. Presented are experiences in software test plan development for three projects focusing on the generation of test cases to test program logic. The development of a test plan for each of the three projects provided documented test plans and test results which could be used for auditing purposes. Also, organization of the testing phase was provided by defining test procedures, test data values, and expected results before the testing was performed. In doing this, confusion, testing time, and cost were minimized.
