Interference suppression and multipath mitigation using an adaptive correlator direct sequence spread spectrum receiver

C.N. Pateros, G.J. Saulnier · 2003

A receive structure that uses an adaptive correlator to both detect the incoming data and compensate for the channel is discussed. This method has been shown to implement a linear minimum mean square estimator of the transmitted data based on the received samples. It is shown that under certain assumptions, the receiver also performs a likelihood ratio test. This receiver structure is shown to be capable of removing single tone interference and compensating for multipath reception. The receiver requires a preamble of known data bits to train the filter, but has the advantage that the spreading sequence does not have to be known a priori.>
