Reda A.A. Ammar, P.A. Simick · 2005

The ahility to model a system is crucial to the success of the software design. The models developed are used to analyize the characteristics of each design alternative to determine the design which best meets the specified system requirements [11. While providing an overview of the characteristics and operation of a system and the ability to determine how future desigf! alternatives affect the performance of a system. the models become an invaluable part of system documentation. Their benetits are evident in later stages of the software life cycle. With the increase of the use of microprocessors and minicomputers as r.cal-time processing system. the performance of .the software systems will be a determining factor for their applicability to real-time situations. A tool for the performance analysis of software systems at the design phase would give software engineers a method to base their design decisions upon. This paper describes a prototype software performance
