A transformation technique for elliptic filters enabling trade-off of stopband extent for sharper transition width

A transformation technique is shown which enables the analog (or digital) designer of elliptic filters to obtain a narrower transition width than the standard case by limiting, in a prescribed manner, the stopband extent. This trade-off has several applications which are discussed.
