Instrumentable tree encoding of information sources (Corresp.)

F. Jelinek, John T Anderson · IEEE Transactions on Information Theory · 1971

We study here the use of tree codes to encode time-discrete memoryless sources with respect to a fidelity criterion. An easily instrumented scheme is proposed for use with binary sources and the Hamming distortion metric. Results of simulation with random and convolutional codes are given.
