Effect of signaling network topology in cellular system performance

The enormous growth of the cellular service has obviously caused a large increase in signaling load in the fixed part of the mobile network. Short messages as well as other supplementary and value-added services put a strain on the signaling network; so does the reduction in cell sizes to increase system capacity. In this presentation a new signaling simulation tool (PucSSim), which provides network analysis and design capabilities, is briefly described and then applied to evaluate the signaling load in entities and links for four different network topologies.
