KB-grid: enabling knowledge sharing on the semantic web

We present a generic grid architecture in termsof the Knowledge Base Grid (KB-Grid) for buildinglarge-scale distributed knowledge system on the semanticweb. KB-Grid suggests a paradigm that emphasizesglobal knowledge sharing and reuses of web knowledgebase (webKB) resources. Our approach involves asemantic browser for browsing and retrieving webknowledge, a knowledge server as the web container forknowledge, a knowledge base directory server as theregistry supporting hierarchical discovery and co-allocationof webKBs, and an ontology server formanaging web ontologies. A referential implementationon TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) is also presentedto verify the design rationale underlying KB-Grid.
