Scatterable Sensor Networks for Network Centric Warfare Applications
Kenneth E. Viall · 2007
This paper investigates the utility of realistic, time and scale-constrained sensor networks in cooperation with semi-autonomous robots as envisioned in future Network-Centric Warfare. The particular application chosen is a networked minefield based roughly on the United States Military Family of Scatterable Mines (FASCAM) with similar emplacement and planning techniques. Algorithms for sensor network operation and sensor network control are provided. Simulation results for sleep and wake cycles and energy consumption indicate that sleep logic based on hop distance from a minefield event provide the best energy savings.
