Development Of The Arctic Remote Autonomous Measurement Platform
Kenneth R. Peal, Kenneth E. Prada · 2005
Since the initial design of the Arctic Remote Autonomous Measurement Platform, several changes have been made to improve performance and reliability. Several types of telemetry have been added. In situ recording capacity has been a major emphasis. Development of a reliable optical disk based system has involved laboratory and field testing to ensure satisfactory performance in Arctic field conditions. Results of operational tests and field programs using both helicopter and manual deployment methods are re ported. Spectral and time series data from accelerometers and a hydrophone are recorded internally along with environmen tal sensor data. Selected data are available to the investi gator in real time either via the ARGOS satellite system or high speed line-of-sight telemetry.
