Our aim is to develop an objective and reproducible kidney volume estimation using SPECT for 9gm Tc-OMSA renal imaging. For this, the major problem stems from the delineation of kidney b orders. Therefore, we used and compared three methods of segmentation : with fixed threshold, g ray level histogram and mathematical morphology technics. The first method applied to a series of patients showed a good correlation w ith kidney diameter measurements from the ultrasound. But this solution i s not operator independent and the research with the phantoms permits thecomparison with t he two other methods which appear much better.
