A Weighing Framework for Information Retrieval in Peer-to-Peer Networks

Roberto Castiglion, Massimo Melucci · 2006

Using a general weighing framework, it is proposed a model to organize and select peers from which relevant documents are retrieved. It was studied the impact of the partial exploration of a Peer-to-Peer network on the proportion of retrieved relevant documents by using a sub-set of a standard test collection for evaluation in Information Retrieval. The experimental results have suggested that a small exploration ratio allows for retrieving a significant proportion of retrieved relevant documents.
