Wavelet-packet subband structures in the evolution of the JPEG 2000 standard

We evaluate the suggested employment of wavelet packet subband structures in the different stages of the JPEG 2000 standardization process and find the solution finally adopted for JPEG 2000 Part II to be satisfactory for amost all type of images.
