Tracking of simultaneously tuned transmitter and receiver†

The common methods of tracking employing equal sections of ganged variable capacitors cannot be used in the ease of a simultaneously tuned transmitter and receiver as the ratios of the maximum to minimum capacitances of the transmitting and receiving capacitors are not equal. In this paper a tracking method for the latter case is presented. The method is used in the design of a typical frequency tuner for the development of an ionosphere critical frequency recorder.
