Swarm based logistics supply structure evolving simulation for strategic decision
Gang Xiao, Bao Xi · 2005
Corporation's strategic decision in logistics demand and supply management affects all aspects about profit advantage in the increasingly competitive market. This research studies how the long-term logistics strategic decision impacts on all factors about logistics service. The object of using the Swarm platform is to utilize its agent-based models (ABMs, so-called MAS, multi-agent simulation models) to illustrate and access the information and data of logistics process. The simulation program coordinates the relationship and inter-organization of logistics supply structure, and a dynamic analytical cycle is recorded and described by continuously evaluating customer satisfaction and logistics cost. The main contribution is that a micro-mechanism of company's logistics management process is vividly described by using Swarm to MAS problem. The model is applied to a case to exploit the potential competitive advantage. The results demonstrate the superiority of the modeling approach for logistics strategic decision.
