A discourse-based consultant for interactive environments

The authors present their automated consultant and describe its application to a practical domain, the Berkeley Unix mail system. They take advantage of previous work on discourse-based assistants that focuses on understanding the user's question and goal, and instead concentrate on the generation of suitable advice.>
