A Knowledge-Based Teaching System for SQL

: The paper presents SQL-Tutor, an intelligent teaching system for SQL programming. SQL-Tutor is designed as a guided discovery learning environment and supports problem solving, conceptual and meta-learning. The system uses Constraint-Based Modelling to form models of its students. We present design issues by focusing on the system's architecture. Student modelling and the generation of pedagogical actions are discussed in the light of tailoring instructions towards a particular student. 1 Introduction Structured Query Language (SQL) is the dominant database language today, containing data and view definition statements, as well as data manipulation statements. Although SQL is a simple and highly structured language, students have many difficulties learning it.
