Stephen W. Wharton · 2005

ABsTRAcr/REsuME The Pilot Land Data System is being developed to address the information processing needs of the NASA land sciences research community. The objective of the pilot program is to establish a limited-scale, distributed information system for the archival, location, transfer, integration, and manipulation of data across multiple sites connected by a high-speed communications network. A summary is given of the functional capabilities required for users to create, access, and maintain local and distributed data bases containing various types of data in support of land sciences research.
