An improved tracking algorithm for target detection
Kumar, Rao, Murukutla · 1989
Both the range and Doppler (radial velocity) measurements are used to improve tracking. The radial velocity improves the target track correlation process and reduces the associated ambiguity in the clutter environment. Since the measurement model obtained is nonlinear, it has to be linearized; hence an extended Kalman filter (EKF) algorithm is used. The radial velocity component of the innovation sequence is monitored, as it tends to be more susceptible to maneuver than the position feature of the innovation sequence. The subsequent algorithm to process the data is nonlinear and adaptive. The feasibility of the algorithm is substantiated by appropriate results.>
