An extension of FORTRAN containing finite difference operators

John M. Gary, Richard V. Helgason · Software Practice and Experience · 1972

Abstract Design of a language (PDELAN) to assist the programming of finite difference approximations to partial differential equations is described. A key part of the language is the representation of finite difference operators. The language is an extension of FORTRAN and is implemented as a preprocessor to a FORTRAN compiler.
