Multilevel median filters for image processing

The authors analyze multilevel FIR (finite impulse response) median hybrid (FMH) filters and show that some multilevel structures can be expressed as single weighted FMH filters. The multilevel in-place growing filtering concept is introduced to combat the dilemma between detail preservation and noise attenuation of the multilevel filters.>
