Human oriented operation guide for substations

Several operation guide expert systems are in actual operation in substations, control centers and dispatching centers since 1987, at The Kansai Electric Power Co. Inc., Japan. In order to make a practically usable system, much discussion has been made in the course of the development on the interaction method between the operator and the system. From our experience of developing and operating the system, the important points are to provide simple and effective guidance in time for the operators, add simulating function of a fault for training, and make the system changeable by operators for friendly guidance. Consequently these systems are well appreciated by operators and proved to be quite effective. We believe that the operation guide expert system is worth installing in spite of the fact that the development of such a system needs much man-power and cost.>
