Thermal Transient Response of Electrical Self-Heating in Current-in-Plane Magnetoresistive Heads
Klaas B. Klaassen · 2006
This paper investigates a dynamic resistance thermometry technique to study temperature rise in magnetoresistive heads. Electrical bias transients give rise to thermal transients in the sensor of a GMR head which increase with the (product of the) bias current and the transient current. Today's head sensors are so small that they thermally respond to transients in the electrical bias nearly instantaneously.
