Analysis of Frequency-Hopping Slotted ALOHA Systems with Channel Load Sensing in Finite Population Model

We quantitatively analyze the performance of a frequency-hopping slotted ALOHA system with channel load sensing and finite population in terms of the throughput and the average transmission delay. A slot duration is assumed to be equal to the packet length in contrast with most of the literature on channel load sensing protocols. The analysis is based on a three dimensional Markov chain. Numerical results show that the protocol can improve the throughput, if the packet retransmission probability is approximately unity.
