Application of fuzzy control to a water bottling line

M.-K. Ghabri, Pierre Ladet · 2002

Fuzzy sets theory has been widely used in the control of many complex industrial continuous processes. However, there are few researches (up to authors knowledge) that try to use this theory in the domain of discrete event systems. This is owing to the nature of the theory itself which can be more easily used in the case of continuous processes rather than discrete processes. In this paper, a hierarchical fuzzy controller for a water bottling line has been developed. This controller consists of a set of local fuzzy controllers and a supervisor. Each local fuzzy controller is used to control a specific component of the line. These components are generally multi-inputs single-output processes. A comparison between fuzzy control with prediction on the state of the local processes and fuzzy control without prediction has been made.>
