A GaAs vector memory system for signal processing

T.A. Misko · 2003

The author describes the McDonnell Douglas Vector Processor (MVP), which is fabricated completely from GaAs digital integrated circuits. The MVP architecture includes a vector memory section, a decoupled address generation section, a parallel execution section, and a control/scalar processor. The architectural, performance, and packaging features of the vector memory system are described. It is concluded that the vector memory architecture has demonstrated high performance on simulated models for a variety of signal processing applications. This is achieved by decoupling the memory access from the parallel execution section and by utilizing GaAs technology throughout the design.>
