Computer-Aided Diagnosis in Cardiovascular Disease : PANEL DISCUSSION ON INFORMATION PROCESSING AND AUTOMATIC DIAGNOSIS OF CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
Kiyoshi MACHII · Japanese Circulation Journal-english Edition · 1974
An attempt of computer-aided diagnosis in 277 different cardiovascular disease based on Boolean logic was described. Total 158 parameters from chest X-ray film, ECG, PCG and catheterization findings were used for the study. Experience with this approach indicates that the cardiovascular diseases can not be diagnosed with a similar accuracy as that of an experienced specialist in this field. However, the accuracy of the computer diagnosis can be improved with refinement of the logic, accumulation of clinical data, and adding some other laboratory findings. The usefulness of Boolean logic in this field was also discussed.
