Representing organizational behavior in a bayesian belief network, and making the resulting inferences accessible to users

T. Toth-Fejel, S. J. Clark, James Kindrick · International Journal of Human Factors in Manufacturing · 1992

Abstract This article describes work on Dr. FactoryTM, a manufacturing plant diagnosis application, and Cause‐MICTM, an expert system shell on which it is based. The Dr. FactoryTMand Cause‐MICTMsystems are described in detail, followed by a description of how a knowledge‐based system can represent organizational behavior in terms of important concepts and their functional relationships. This article explains how domain experts increased their understanding of the knowledge they thought they knew, and how the results of the computation of Bayesian Belief Networks can be presented to users.
