Wireless Embedded Smart Cameras: Performance Analysis and their Application to Fall Detection for Eldercare.

Alvaro Pinto · Lincoln (University of Nebraska) · 2011

In the last decade, an alliance between Wireless Sensor Networks and Embed-ded Smart Cameras (Wireless Embedded Smart Camera Networks) has received a lot of attention from academia and industry, since there exist many unsolved research problems, wireless embedded platforms are small in size and easy to de-ploy, and they offer a multitude of attractive applications. A Wireless Embedded Smart Camera (WESC) is a standalone unit that combines sensing, processing and communication on a single embedded platform. They provide a lot of flexibility in terms of the number and placement of the cameras. They can be used for embedded single unit applications, or can be networked for multi-camera appli-cations.
