Jill Gerhardt, Saralyn Grenga Mathis, Rebecca Smith Hall · Journal of computing sciences in colleges · 2006

An experimental course is highlighted which helps to bridge the gap between Computer Science and Calculus and which educates students on the contributions of females and minorities in the fields of both Computer Science and Mathematics. The paper addresses the structure and content of such a course that was developed to help students perform better in Calculus. Also included are interventions designed specifically to increase the retention of students in Computer Science. Data is presented that is relevant to understanding the effectiveness of the course.
