Multipath channel estimation for WCDMA uplink
Aiping Huang, Michael Hall, I.O. Hartimo · 1999
A novel multipath channel estimation method is proposed to solve a special problem that occurs in channel estimation for ETSI's WCDMA uplink communications, where scrambling is introduced in the dedicated physical channels. The delays and complex amplitudes of the multipath components are estimated. A matched filter is employed for each user to carry out the despreading and unscrambling simultaneously. The filter coefficients are a combination of the OVSF code and the preliminary scrambling code for the user. An averaging operation reduces the noise and interference, and thus improves the estimates.
